Default new clutch slips

i just installed a mugen clutch in my x. i have a robinson racing hardened clutch bell. my problem is when i start the truck up the clutch slips badly for at least 30 seconds. as it heats up it gets better but wont shift to second gear even after a half a tank. anyone else had this problem? i thought the aluminum clutch was supposed to grab better than the stock clutch.

Default RE: new clutch slips

they do iwork better but engage at a higher rpm also but before you install them I think you have to sand the face a bit so they well grab better. I tried using them in my 1/8th buggie but gave up on them when I found out what a pain they were to maintain because you have to keep the burrs cleaned off the sides so you have to take them apart quite often to cut the burrs off them and prep the faces of them. so I just went to a four shoe composite clutch and it worked great
