Default New To The Hobby - Need Help Picking A Car

Hey, I've been looking for a good hobby to get into and I think r/c is it. Only problem is, there are so many r/c cars out there on the market that I don't even know where to start. I want the best r/c car possible out of the box that is designed for my level. Any ideas? So far, I have my eyes on the:

Team Associated
B4 Stealth
RC10 (and variants)
TC3 (and variants)
TC4 (and variants)
RC18 (and variants)

HPI
R40 Hara Edition
RS4 (and variants)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those are basically what I've seen caught my eye so far on the review boards. If anyone could suggest a good r/c car or if you just wanna throw something out there, please post it.

Are you looking for an onroad or offroad? If it's an onroad, then the Team Associated Tc4 would be good.
But if its offroad, pick some and I will tell you wether they are worth buying.

Also, there are 3 different choices.
Gas
Nitro
Or electric

You also have size
1/28th
1/24th
1/20th
1/18th
1/16th
1/14th
1/12th
1/10th
1/8th
1/7th
1/6th
1/5th
1/4th
1/3rd.

The smaller the number after the slash, the bigger it is.
1/28th is around 6 or so inches.
1/3rd, is 3 or so feet.

Do you want to race or bash?

If you want to race, do you know where you can race it? What types of classes are there?

If you have nowhere to race then I think an off-road vehicle is the only way to go.

Also electric vs nitro: electric will have a larger up-front cost if you buy decent stuff but will be cheaper in the long run. The nitro is cheaper to start but costs add up over time for fuel. Also nitro is a bit more maintenance, though if you know what's good for electrics you'll spend just as much time on them changing brushes and springs and crap.

here are some steps to decide what you want...

1. on or offroad?
2. gas or electric?
3. what class (truck, monster truck, buggy, touring car, etc)

after that it's just comparing the cars that you picked out to see which one has the feature set you like best.
