Default revo prob- revving really high, changed spur gear

ok, here the problem, i have a revo 2.5 and i stripped the spur gear, so i upgraded to the metal one. i installed it, and i just started the revo and it revs really high when i give it gas. i can barely get it going before it screams. im not sure if its the spur gear or the servo or the transmission or something else.
i am pretty new to rc trucks

all help is appreciated

Yeah, check the slipper adjustment first......tighten to specs in your owner's manual.

Except for stripping the spur gear was it running fine before?
If so it sounds like you did not get the slipper set right when you changed the spur gear. Before you get into taking a lot of stuff apart make sure that the spur is installed correctly and that the slipper is set correctly. Then, if you still have a problem, check the clutch shoes and then the tranny.

it worked good, but since i changed the shocks, its steering to the left, so i will have to adjust them , i didnt do it to carefully. the only prob i think i have is that changing from forward to reverse, is messing up the gears or something, because when i switch it revs high
