update photos
here is my wing wrapped on the top.
the micafilm is interesting stuff. tough as anything I've ever seen.
I have all the surfaces covered and the top of the wing.
I finish assembling the plane and do a cg check, and cut the hing slots.
I went pulll pull again on this one. I have the tail servos mounted completely inside the wing. I'll put some guide tube through the trailing edges to guide the lines out of the wing and past the ailerons.

almost finished
just came up from the shed (2am 32 Degrees out side)
i'm just about finished. there's so much happening in my house so i'm only able to grab an hour here and there.
receiver is mounted ,tail linkage is done with 20 lb fishing wire.
top profile is drying as I type.
the whole top of the wing is wrapped and half the bottom is wrapped.
I basically have to decide on which battery to use, do a cg check and mount it. then just wrap it then mount the ailerons.
there'll be no switch for this one. i'll have the two wires hanging out the roof.
also, I have to see what I"m going to have to do with the header. right now I have a MC exhaust on a new full length macs header. I'll probably have to cut the header down which will take a little weight off also.
If I go with a lighter battery I can shave two oz off the finished weight.
here's what I've got as for weight.
the weight tonight with the FOUR oz 1450 mah battery ( sorry mark,, ) is 3lb 2oz. the only other thing missing is the two 256 rods to the ailerons.
I have a good field charger but like to not have to use it.
here's the thing, I still have my other menace and can use that to bang around but if this one flies so much better i may not want to use the old one any more. which means I will want the bigger battery.
or I can use this one to practice for spacific events and use it for the events, and use the older one for every day abuse. then I won't mind the smaller battery. the older one has the larger battery... I'll probably do that.
what is the biggest lightest battery????
I can't believe how light this thing will finish at? I'll post photos next week. The elevator on this thing is HUGE...can't wait to fly it.

Looks cool duuude... I see your just as sick as I am going out to the shed at all hours of the night.... I just got in friom repairing my taco...
I've got a 6 volt 700 mAh NiMh in mine.... I get 5 or 6 flights before I need to charge.... I like the servo response with the 6 volt too.

finished
I finally finished up late last night. Now that I look in my book and check the weights of the previous Menaces I don't know how I was coming out so heavy. My first one off the board finished at 4lb 4oz. by the time I gave it away and after all the repairs it was over 4lb 10oz's.
My second one was just under 4lbs. it flew great. the tightest straightest loops..
the third one was a fast( three day ) replacement of the second one. It finished just below 4lbs with heavier high torque servos and a 6vlt battery.
the fourth one finished with standard servos and a 4.8vlt battery someplace above 3.5lbs
The Menace plus it super light. My goal was to beat all my previous weights. I was actually shooting for 3lb 4oz and I finished two oz's less and I went with the heavier battery and a real small non-stearable tail wheel i put on the drag wire. I don't think the wheel will last long.
I have a 1/4 lb battery in there. I could easily take two oz's out just by changing the battery but you know what.. at this point whether I take two oz out or not , doesn't really change the wing load too much. If I were building for absolute weight I would look into the camera batteries I seen at the nationals last summer. at my level of competition which is limited to local contests only the two oz's isn't so important to me. i'd rather fly it all day with out stopping.
for someone who builds for absolute weight this plane can easily finish below or at 3lbs....
