Default RE: MAXX Snow Plow

Here is one I just made for My F-150 race truck with 4 wheel drive. The design is the same as the other one I made, and I added the lights for more realism. It looks and behaves just like the real thing.

Edit*

Here is a picture of what it might look like with some paint on the plow. This picture was simply photo edited to make it look like it was painted. I think it gives it a more finished appearance.

I have gotten a few messages asking for more details about the plow. I may be offering a step by step set of instructions on how to build a customizable radio control plow at some point, so I don't want to give all of the details away, but I can share some info here.

This plow design can be made to work on most RC models with 4 wheel drive that can accept a 4+ channel radio.

It raises/lowers, and angles just like the real thing.

There are a few more details that will be added to the design. This is a rough version.

With step by step plans, and fairly common tools, it can be made in a few days. Most of the costs for materials are minimal.

There is no trip spring on this particular version, but it does have servo/crash protection.

It works great for snow, but is also tough enough to plow loose dirt or gravel. It also works great for plowing up saw shavings in my shop.

The prototype for this plow took months of work to get to work properly without breaking one thing or another. I eventually wore out the 2 wheel drive monster truck it was on.

That looks nice but the blade looks a bit flimsy. I like the linkage but i think its way too overpriced. I think the ideal price for that is around $60, especially if its now going to be in production and not hand made[]

i really like that plow on ebay, but holy crap it is expensive for something you might use for 3 months out of the year. i don't think you would have any problems with it being flimys, its alum. you might bend it running into something tho.

This is a short clip I posted on You Tube of the truck smashing into some heavy, wet snow.

The youtube vid is nice but you need 4 wheel drive. Or do you have it? i cant tell. I think it would work best on an e maxx, just because of the tork it has.

what i would do is take to peices of hollow alluminum piping with diameter of the hole inside the pipe small enough to fit a screw that has a diameter the right size to fit through the whole in the e-maxx's shock tower. Now all you have to do is get a tap that will thread the hole in the alluminum to the size of the screw. Now you will have to shape a peice of alliminum to the angle best fit for your plow and do the same to the tubes of alluminum and then just drill the holes in the main peice of your plow and screw it in the the alluminum tubes. Im sure you can find out someway to ajust the angle of the plow maybe with washers. I would just say to go out and buy a plow as this is alot of work to do. It would be easier if you had a welder.

It is a 4 wheel drive...look at the top post on this page. Torque can be adjusted by changing the pinion gear for most kit rc vehicles, but size does make a dfference when doing something like this, and my race truck is sort of small. I also have a much larger monster truck that I may make a plow for too.

I will probably make a better video when we get some snow. I had to throw huge chunks of wet snow on the driveway to have something to plow. It looks much cooler plowing through light, fluffy snow.
