Default I need a mentor

I made an impulse buy and picked up The Grasshopper from Tamiya. Now, I know it might not be the best car but there is nothing I can do about it now. I went to a hobby shop yesterday to poke around but was not impressed with the guy who seemed a little sketchy. I was just looking to see if anyone could help me out with the purchase of a motor, a (receiver or speed control device), a remote, a good battery and a charger. I am pretty sure it can take either the 380 or the 540 motor. So basically, I need any help with turning my kit into a recreational car. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks - Ryan

Depends on your budget. For speed controls look at duratrax they are pretty solid and inexpensive. Any remote will work just get it from the name brands futaba, hitec, jr, airtronics. Battery - get the highest capacity nimh in your price range. Charger- get a peak charger that will charge nimh or nicd. Duratrax makes some ok ones. Motor selection will depend on how fast you want to go and your price range. The trinity cobalt motor is extremely popular stock motor.

Thanks for the help guys. I am pretty much just looking to get some good stuff that will last. I dont want to buy ****e but I am also not really looking to race. So pretty much, I just want some good equipment that will be fun to screw around with. Figured it might be cheaper to buy on-line than at a hobby shop but price really isn' the biggest issue.
