Some gliders with electric power exceed 100 inch wingspan, but most "some one can buy" (like a commodity) measure more like 40 inches.
Neither are commodities, there is some assembly required.

Take a look at the Magister. It's basically a trainer type electric with over 60" wingspan. Very nice when properly equipped with an adequate motor, etc. Also, good reviews on rcuniversel.com.

Outside of NASA, the biggest successful electric plane that I know about is [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354596]Pink Floyd[/link], a 24-foot electric-powered foamie. Pink Floyd was built and flown by Hans, a Wisconsin college student, in 2004. Amazingly, he built the 24-footer in his college dorm!
Hans has also built a 50-foot version, [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=375994]Big Floyd[/link]. Big Floyd nearly got off the ground during its first flight attempt last season but had some gearbox troubles. It may fly this summer. Big Floyd is also an electric-powered foamie. Both planes are built from pink fanfold foam (FFF).
Neither plane is commercially available.
For commercially-available planes, some pilots are putting electric power systems into big 3D planes with 8-10 foot wingspans.

I own a Lanier U-2 free flight glider that I have converted to electric. 74 inch wingspan, 56 inch long.
Powered with 2- 480 brushed motors.
