Looks like he got an order in. Funny I checked the site a couple hours ago and didn't see this. Must be working on it as we type! Thanks! Didn't see the PZIII though.

RE: ALL Metal HL Tiger On SALE at MATO
Sorry to just break into this thread, but it was the only one I found being up to date and talking about not too expensive tanks.
I found a Tiger I (1/16) on this page: http://www.raidentech.com/huma1getiirc.html
Anybody an idea what product this is, or if it is any good. I couldn't find any 1/16 model on the tokyo marui webpage.

what does S&S version mean?
Sorry, I'm new to tanks, but always have been fascinated by them. Is it better to go with a Vs or Marui 1/24?

Smoke and Sound. They also have more elaborate functions like a multi-step speed controller. The Marui stuff does not impress me one bit, I don't know what the hub-ub is about. Funny enough one member here direct swapped motor/gearboxes between a 1/16HL and a 1/24 mauri as an exact fit replacement.

I read a lot about rubber tracks. Is there any model out there (right out of the box), having something like plastic or steel tracks (like having single pieces)?

Search this and other tank forums and educate yourself. Check out Mato Toys website, he offers several upgrade levels of the tanks with descriptions so you can see what the differences are.

i think for indoors that a plastic tread with rubber pads would be awesome.. mabey i can do some modding to my plastic treads when my metal ones get here. imagine just putting 1 pad on one side, then the next tread on the other end and back and forth etc.... oh now i got evil ideas. next the wheel!

I have the M41 Bulldog S&S and the rubber tracks that come stock work great! Ran it outdoors and over branches, rock and dirt, no problems. It does like to eat tall grass and wrap around the sprocket, I clean that up when I re load. Good tank. Happy with it.

All of the Heng Long (or "HL") 1/16 scale RC tanks come with plastic tracks individually linked with steel pins. No rubber.
There are aftermarket metal tracks available for each of these tanks if you should so desire them. They are not needed or necessary but just a cosmetic upgrade that enhances the "realism". Some of the HL tanks from Mato Toys in Canada come with metal tracks already installed.
I too would suggest going for a Smoke & Sound HL tank as the older versions (non S&S) are pretty much obsolete and antiquated by now. For only $7 more you can get additonal features such as a speed control that is similar to proportional, sounds effects: engine startup/acceleration/shutdown/ +elevation+traverse+main gun firing+machinegun firing, a working smoke generator that emits smoke from the tank's exhaust pipes and a somewhat cheesy recoil action that makes the whole tank rock backwards.
The tank moves forward, back, left, right, can carve wide or narrow turns in either direction and "360 degree superspins". You can combine most of the movement functions at the same time, i.e., rotate and elevate the turret gun while driving which is cool. I think that covers it.
Whew.
