Default Great Planes 1/3 Pitts weight

I am getting a S&S 3.2 twin and want to put it in my Great Planes 1/3 Pitts. Think it will give it much better power then a US-41 / G-38 setup but I am concerned about the weight. The S&S is 5.5# and will bring the Pitts to 19# or just a little over and the Tower site notes that at 18 lbs or more the model is no longer a pilot-friendly and easy to handle. When I got it it had a MDS 2.18 and the weight was 17.5# so not sure if I can cut any weight. How do the heavy Pitts fly? I want something that is relaxing to fly, not ready to snap out of the sky[&:] So should I fly it or get something else for the twin?

Thanks,

Charles

Default RE: Great Planes 1/3 Pitts weight

do not over weight it!!!!
i have the same model with a DA50, LIPO's and all DIGI hitech's servos and i'm arround 12 and landinghs are still fast and hard!!!
the lighter it is the better beacuse the "lift" is poor on this model...for me anyway...

please be aware that on mine, with a BIG motor, the model wants to YAW alltimes , to avoid that, add 1dgree DW and 2dgreeRT for the engine mount
the rest u fix with RUDD mix

try to be accurate as possible while instaling the side sparr-the red ones, this way you'll avoid the WING incidence.

it is great model
