Believe it or Not
Hi, I used hi- temp flat black bbq grill paint sprayed on the inside of the canopy. After you stop laughing, I will tell you it looks great. Think of the safety possibilties also, Incase of a fire, i'm covered to 1200 degrees

Years ago I tinted a Sportster .40 canopy with spray tint. The canopy was a little thin for the chemicals...but it worked. There is..or was spray tint out there. I'd think that the black paint on the inside would work as well. I wouldn't have seen the difference from 10 feet anyway.

Rit Dye
I've often heard people use Rit Dye. Rit is a brand name and it's available in most craft stores. The more you keep the canopy in soak the darker it gets. Never tried it myself so make sure you practice on some scrap first.

tinting canopy
I used the Rite dye on my Edge canopy and it came out better than i expected. I used 1 pack of black and one pack of blue with about 1.5 gallons of tap water. Placed in kettle and set the stove top to sim. Placed canopy in for about 15 minutes to get the right tint i was looking for.
Looks just like the ones from the factory.

The RIT Dye method has proven to be the best way of tinting canopies (for me anyway). I just done my Fiberclassic Extra 330L and I am very happy with the result. From what I can find out this is how the factory produced canopies are done.
The sugested amount that the dye manufacturer recommends needs to be increased X 10 times the amount, and the water temp needs to be 60 deg C. I used 4 x bottles of Rit dye in 40lts of water, leaving the canopy in the hot water and dye solution for 1 hour.
