Rare earth magnets to supercharge your tank?
These can be used to 'supercharge' small electric motors. Has anyone tried them in RC models yet??

I have some on the way and will publish the test results.

The right idea, not quite the right application.
High magnetic flux density is the number to look for in a powerful motor (basically how hard it is to physically turn the shaft in a permanant magnet motor). The harder the turn the more powerful motor.
A lot of magnetic flux density is wasted in this configuration as a curved magnet would work better and closer to the armeture.
Also a consideration, some motors have a shield on them (housing) to prevent spurious magnetic fields from interfering with other electronics nearby. This setup would negate that protection.
Replacing the magnets in the motor housing with rare earth metals would make more of a performance impact.
You can significantly improve the motor force performance by using a multiple magnet armature winding configuration, mostly used in electromagnetic motors and brushless motors.

If the metal sleeve over motors increases torque (and it does) then that idea that could possibly increase the power slightly.
You will have to let us know.
