ya the 783 is a good radio. I had one a couple of years ago. Easy to program and can do just about any thing you need to do in a plane. The heli program has a lot to be desired but thats Helli's. Get real family with the 3 pos switch. It is your best friend on that radio. Enjoy.

Right on Paul....I'm moving up in the world. He bought it so he could mix the elevator to flaps on his top flight 182. He's been building it for atleast 5 years now and I don't see it being finished in the next 5. So, I told him to send it my way in the mean time.
SCORE!!!! maybe he'll forget I have it.

I use a 783 also. A good upgrade to consider is a 1650 NiMh battery pack for the transmitter. I bought one over a year ago and I could fly all day last summer without charging.

Kevinsheen,
how do you charge the Nimh in your 783. I need a new transmitter battery, and thinking about going to the Nimh but I can't find out if the standard NIcad wall charger will charge the Nimh.

A standard wall wart will charge NiMh given enough time but the problem you will run into is that NiMh heat up more than NiCd's when being overcharged (and that is how they are damaged).
Good chargers are dropping in price all the time. Look for one that has a 'peak-detect' for both NiCd and NiMh. Some will even charge LI and PB batteries. I saw a new Triton charger at the field just a couple of weeks ago and was impressed by the functionality.
A good battery charger is nothing less that smart insurance in my book. Once you get more than a couple of planes, how can you afford not to know exactly what shape your batteries are in. With all of the money we invest in planes, motors and radio components, saving just 1 crash more than pays for a good charger.
