What servo to use for Byron F-16 ailerons?
I am in the process of finishing up a Byron F-16. Several guys have suggested eliminating the internal aileron system that comes with the kit. I would have to agree that installing the servos in the wing in obviously a great idea. But, what servos are thin enough to work. I am using a Futaba radio.
thanks, Scott.

Why not use the stock set up, with standard servos?
I have flown them with Futaba 148s and never had a problem. (Over 600 Flights in 10 years.)
You don't have to hassel with plugging in the servos when the wings are put on either!
The Byron F-16 isn't fast enough to warrant the extra expense of those hi buck "wing" servos

I remember the wing on mine being thick enough for standard servos.
Don't go nuts on the servos for this one...you don't need a ton of power, standard servos will be fine. Better servos will give you more precision and speed, but you don't need a turbine quality $100 servo for each wing of that plane.
If standard won't fit, both balsa products and Expert sell cheap good low profiles for $20 or less.

JR servo's
I switched over to the wing mounted servo's mainly to play with flaperons on the Byron F-16.
Originally I used Hi-Tec metal gear mini servos but they developed too much slop from wear in the metal gears.
I have since gone to the JR 331 High Torque Micro. It has 42.2 oz of torque. The dimensions of this servo is 0.50" x 1.12" x 1.17". They are around 30 bucks and have worked very well.
I just glue them to the bottom of the servo cover using servo tape and clear silicon

Thanks for the responses gentlemen. I think I will stick with the stock set up. Since that is what I have already done. I was wondering if special servos may have been a little overkill. I have went to the trouble of mounting the rudder servo in the tail. And this is the kit with the elevator servos in the tail. Although this is my first jet, it will not be my last. So, I would rather save the $$$ on this one in an effort to afford something much better later.
