Click on settings in the top right corner of the web page. Look on the left until you see the Signature box and that’s what will show on the bottom of your posts. For you avatar or pic on the side scroll down to avatar and click Upload my picture. You can find one online to fit the right size. I personally made mine using simple Microsoft paint.

Same here. I like to do a lot of research on anything because I know that information is not always accurate. So the more sources that you find for info. the better you will be because you can compare them.

Good call on helping these guys out with not calling a spool posi,i did not want to get into it.
I always like to corect the teacher. So here we go. A spool is known as a spool or a solid rearend. A locker is something else. a locker replaces the differential with a set of spring loaded cogs that mesh tight and "unlock" when one wheel spins faster than the other when turning to give good road maners. and is suposed to stay "locked" in low traction situations.
typical lockers detroit locker,eazy locker, lock-rite locker, are closer to a posi traction unit than a spool in nature actualy ...being that a locker at times has the ability to let one wheel or another spin faster than the other.And the spool is totaly solid no mater what.( There is a Air-Locker that is the best of both worlds. It is totaly open for nice highway maners .And is a solid as a spool when air presure is aplied to it from a on vehicle aircompresor.
. a posi-traction unit has spyder gears in it like a open differential, but the posi also has spring loaded clutch packs in the diff. They they are fighting to keep both tires spinning the same speed.the clutches give enough friction in the diff to send power to the left wheel in low traction situations. but are not strong enough to hold tight when turning on high traction surfaces,to give good street maners.
all that is made now for these trucks is a spool and that is probably all that will be made for them.Spools are great for off road use like mudding and rock crawling. And are also great for strait line drag racing on any surface.
The posi is the most sublte but least efective of all of these traction improving devices but is the best for onroad use .You cant even notice it is there during daily driving. It is good for snow and ice and mild street drag racing. and is helpfull in muddy conditions with stock size tires and horse power.
the locker works great off road and works great in snow and ice,And will unlock when you turn a corner on paved surfaces ,But you will know it's there by it's poping and clicking noises. and sometimes a sort of ratcheting feeling.
the spool on the street sucks . every time you pull a hard turn you will here one tire draging . it will scrub one tire or another in the turns. it will make a real barking sound when doing a U turn slow as that tire hops around the corner trying to keep up. If you give it gas in the corner it will just spin teh whole car around and point it where teh front tires are pointed ,so you better be ready. It is good for race cars and fun for a weekend hot-rod or mud truck, but in ayour daily driver it will drive you nuts.

Thanks for the link but that's not a posi-traction differential. That's a spool also know as a locker which creates a locked differential. Meaning that the wheels will constantly be locked in a straight line and during turns also. If you use that on high traction surfaces you will have problems becaues during turning the inside wheel will turn just as fast as the outside wheel and that will put a lot of stress on parts.

yeah, my cheap little work truck[chevy luv] has welded spider gears in the rear axle. i bought it at an auction that way. it does'nt like turning corners on asphalt very well.

We call that a "lincoln locker". lincoln as in lincoln welders.

thats the cheap and easy way to make a spool in a car truck ect weld the spider gears. done it made of times in all different vehicals maniely in my toyota's pickups

O.K. so now I know there is no such thing as a posi rear end for r/c trucks. But I have learned that you can lock the rear wheels together so that always turn nearly, or exactly, the same speed. Thanks for clearing this up for me! I never intended to spead false information. I just asked a question and got a very close answer. So I will, in the future, be carefull of what I say on here, or at least more precise.

you don't have to be anymore carefull than you want to . I have no real gripe with miss information i dont't feel that i am the differential police.
teh sharing of information makes for good reading. I i hope one day all of this reading and writing will learn me how to spell and type. and some day not type teh insted of teh damn it i did it again the the the the.

It wasn't you. It was that Quicky guy. And anyway I've just learned that some people are very picky about what you are saying on here. No big deal. you actually gave me the info. right from the start that I needed, with the spool search. It got me where I wanted. I didn't expect this thread to go this far.

Positraction applies power to the wheels that have the most grip. A spool isn't posi it's simply a diff locker. The Revo has viscious diffs, the closest thing you'll see to positraction in an RC car right now. The Maxx does not have viscious diffs, they are close but they don't work nearly as well as the revo units.
