Dying plastic parts????
How do you dye the parts? WHat did you use, how long does it take, does it last or wear off, do only certain plastics work, etc.?????????? Looking to add some colors to my Revo. Is white the only color to start with? Can black be dyed easily? Shoe some pics too, please.

RE: Dying plastic parts????
I have seen black parts dyed. Did they use the same process? Does all nylon accept the dye? IS white the only color you can start with?

I would think it would be easier to start with a lighter color of plastic. A black piece may not show a light color of dye. Only way to know would be to try I guess.

RE: Dying plastic parts????
I've tried all kinds of plastics using the Rit fabric dye. Most of the results were good. If you're using black, it will work on any plastic. The colors don't always take to very hard plastics, but black will. Just make sure to leave it on for a long time. And no, you can't dye black parts a color. You can only go darker. I change yellow rims to orange all the time, no problem. I dyed the gray rockers on my Revo black with good result. Since then I've dyed the rubber boots on the driveshafts and the rubber stops on the shocks. I dye the rims on almost all of my vehicles. This MBX5 has dyed rims and wing. The black fade on the wing is dye too.

I have never dyed any parts. But if you have aluminum that you dont want blue or a different color or anything that is anodized or factory painted. You can go to the nearest grocery store and by Easy Off in the yellow can. Get a bucket full of water. A heavy duty brush. Go outside spray where you want the paint to be stripped. And watch it disopear then scrub it with the brush in water. Repeat as needed. USE GLOVES you dont want this stuff on ur skin it itches like crazy. Im not responsible if your parts dont come out like you wanted them. But after you have striped your parts of the unwanted color you can then paint them.
