Where does the ESC Plug go?
Hello Everyone,
I think this will be an easy question. I have flown glow planes for 6 or so years, and have started my first electric.
Here is my problem: how do I hook up the esc to my reciever?
I have a old hitec 555 5 channel reciever and would like to know where the plug that comes from the ESC goes? I put it in the slot labeled B/5 (for battery and channel 5)
and now the throttle is on channel 5. I is it OK to switch this to channel 3 slot?
Thanks in advance for any insight to my question.
DB

RE: Where does the ESC Plug go?
There are typically three sets of wires that come out of the ESC. As I think you've already figured out, one set plugs into the battery and one set plugs into the motor.
The third set plugs into the receiver into the channel for throttle. Most ESCs have a BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) that reduces the voltage from your pack to 5Volts, which your Rx likes a lot better. So you needn't plug any battery into the Rx because the ESC should take care of that for you through this third plug.
What you might want to let us know is the following information:
Brand of ESC
Number and type of Servos
Voltage and size of your battery.
There are some situations where the ESC will not be able to power your Rx and servos.

RE: Where does the ESC Plug go?
Here's the connection diagram for most R/C gear available in the U.S. This channel assignment is known as Mode 2
Outside the U.S., a different channel assignment, Mode 1, is often used.
