Thunder Tiger Easy Tiger: Upside down Wing?
I am in the process of rebuilding one of these guys (covering is 3/4 done). Must say I am glad I tore the covering off before I put it up in the air, I couldn't believe what I found that wasn't glued! And those joints !#!#@!
Anyway, here is the question. On my plane, the original owner assembled the plane with the hatches on the bottom, not the top. I am assuming he did this based on the pattern on the covering, which would have been wrong had he assembled the plane with wing hatches facing up. There are (2) problems that I am facing:
1. Airfoil - The airfoil is almost symetrical, but not quite. Anybody think this is going to cause me major problems?
2. Exhaust - because the hatches are on the bottom, one of the bays will be getting a fairly heavy dose of oil everytime the engine runs, at least with a standard muffler mounted in a conventional way. I was thinking of either running a flexible pipe (material?) from the exhaust past the opening in the wing, or mounting a pitts or in cowl (tatone) muffler upside down (to shoot the exhaust up. Oh yah, the engine will be a TT Pro 46 I am taking off a H9 Easy Fly that I am retiring.
Any comments/suggestions?

I must admite that I like the TT Profile very much(I'v had 5). I can assure you that the airfoil is fully symetrical and it does not matter if the hatches are on the top or bottom. As for the exhaust and hatches, very little oil gets in. If you have a problem of oil getting in then just ue a little tape to seal up the hatch.

Pretty much what the guys in the club said, w.r.t. the oil. For insurance, I painted the inside of the hatch on the exhaust side with thinned epoxy, and added some 3/16 triangle stock around the inside perimeter of that hatch to provide more surface area for a seal.
I don't plan on flying this plane until I get at least 3-4 flying sessions in on one of my "trainers" first, so hopefully tomorrow, the weekend and some time during the week I will be able to get this out of the way before attempting to fly this plane. I will, of course have an instructor by my side, "just in case".
