Second speed shifts automatically at a certain RPM. The reverse only engages when you flick the red switch on the TX and come to a complete stop, otherwise the Optidrive won't allow you to prevent stripping the gears.

And its RPM.

it shifts 1st to 2nd automatically. the controller has a switch for the forward and reverse. you must be completely stopped to switch directions.

You mean break in, and YES a tempature gauge will make sure your not turning your engine into a super nova. And get a handheld infared unit, not a cheap wired one you install on the truck, they arn't reliable.

Performance = Larger engine, different gear ratios, higher nitro content fuel, glowplug, different spur/clutch bell.

Durability= RPM products especially arms, titanium hinge pins/pushrods/turnbuckles.

When breaking in the engine, you want it to be no higher then 220 f and running it extremely rich for lubrication. After engine break in, 270 f is considered the danger temp. Glowplug life is one of those random things. Sometimes they last a few months, sometimes they last a few days, it depends on your driving, fuel, tuning and type of plug. But no, you don't need to change the glowplug after each run or that would get old and expensive real quick. If your blowing glowplugs after each run, you gotta serious problem

1. after run oil is a good idea...but i heard if u get Sidewinder fuel(this is what i run) you dont need after run oil...but if u dont it will affect ythe life of ur engine dramatically.
2.air filter fluid is for after u clean your air filter...you clean it after about every hour of run time (this is what Traxxas suggests) and after u clean it with soapy water, you put about 30 drops of the air filter oil in it to keep the dirt and dust out.
3.You can use any type of fuel you want. I'd suggest a 20% with an oil % less than 12...like i said i love my sidewinder its 20% nitro and 10% oil.
4. a tank can last anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 depending on hou you drive.
5. check the battery...if it says 7.2v on it then yes u can use it on the easy start.

You have alot of basic questions...if u go to Traxxas.com you can download the manual and that will cover 90% of ur questions.

http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitr...33_own_man.pdf

thats the entire 3.3 manual.

Good Luck with your truck.

"Trust me" you can turn that REVO into anything you want it to be.
You can find all kinds of after market hop-ups for it . But be careful it is addictive...lol
Man if you get it new read the directions. And use the customer support line. (they do help)

I would suggest that you pick a fule and stick with it. I belive that Traxxas recomends that you break the engin in with 20% nitro fuel.

And to break it in you do not need a temp gun. If it is your first nitro stick to the basics befor you try to tune by temp. Just my suggestion.

Follow the steps outlined by Traxxas and you will be fine.

the transmission on these rc cars now n days relies on centrifugal force to shift. once the car has reached a certain rpms the force will be so great it pops the second gear into action . it also shifts while in reverse too..but it shifts real fast in reverse lol..also very hard to control in reverse
the reverse requires alot of different components as you will see if u ever go with the foc
