New to crawling - Gmade Spider?
Hi all,
I am new to the idea of crawling but would like to get into it - I currently have a much-modded emaxx which is geared quite low anyway as I love technical offroad driving, but obviously without locked diffs etc. it can't really crawl (just charges up steep slopes with little control [8D])
I am thinking of buying/building a crawler then. I did some looking around, saw the Gmade Spider kit on the bay, looks pretty dope. Am I right in thinking it looks like it's designed well from the ground up, rather than endlessly modifying something to be better?
I can see it won't be a cheap project. It's like best part of £300 just to get main chassis kit + difflocks and servo mounts, and obviously I wont be putting a 2nd rate electrics into it - go with super rooster and integy 65ts? And traxxas tq3 radio gear, body etc. etc.
When I think of it like that, I always end up looking at the big savings you can make buying used on ebay. Argh! Dunno which way to go!
Help!?!

It can be made to crawl, but it is not a dedicated crawling design.
I would get a set of Clod axles off of e-bay and then do a little research on a dedicated crawler chassis like the PIMP CANE or CPE Evolution.
The Clod is much more affordable, crawling oriented, and parts availability and aftermarket support is much greater.
Check out www.jpcustomrcs.com .
Good luck.

Hi Dezfan,
Thanks for that yes I did a little reading up and the pimp cane torsion layout looks remarkable.
The idea of the whole chassis flexing giving just pure articulation.. mind-blowing.
I do wonder though, if the chassis will have a finite lifespan?

I've been running one for 10 months w/o major issue, in fact it seems to work better w/ use.
