Default Prop for DA100

Guys,

I have a CHP Extra 300s with DA100. The motor is now run in and I want to put a 3 blade on it. Can anybody with experience of DA100 and 3 bladers advise which size is best for IMAC style flying from experience?

bhanley,

Do you, or have you run this combination - DA100 & 25x12?

Thanks for your advice 25x12 does seem the favortite. I have to ask if you have experience - too many professors with no experience out there.

added it is a Mejlik.

after years of flying a da100 at 4200' - same as Reno I have settled on mejlik 26x10 get 7650rpm on es tuned pipes setup is balistic engine stays healthy cool, throttle is linear, airplane comes up to full speed instant and maintains this top speed over the top of the most difficult manuvers. but is a ripper very noisey. bought a 24x12x3 and 25x12x3 to try this last season. drilled put on the 24x12x3 rpm dropped 700, verticle power is down, gas consumption went way up shorter flights engine temp went up but it hauls it around ok and it sounds very nice note and very quiet. ed at es thinks if I increase header length from 11" to 12 or 13 I will get back some rpm but I don't like to have more than 1/8 inch gap between header and pipe and will be a hasle to weld so like everyone else around here that has tried a 3 blade I will go back to my more efficient 2 blade and sell these props and tru turn 3b spinner for 1/2 price are you interested?

Mounted an Engel 26*12 3-blader on my DA100 with BMB pipes. Swings it at 6100 rpm. Pretty quiet and way enough power for classic aerobatics.

Guys,

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I have gone with a Mejzlik 25 x 12 3 blader and hope that I have made the right informed decision!

Will post again after its had a run to see what results I am getting, just in case someone else could benefit from my findings.

Anybody else have a Chip Hyde Extra 300s with DA100 - what do you think of the a/c?

Happy Flying

My experience with the CHP cannisters are that they ROB power!!! I lost 400RPM over a stock muffler with one of those on a 50cc single. Get rid of them and get some MTW 75's or stock muffs. If you haven't run the hundy at all yet, just know that you should get around 6350-6550RPM on a 28X10 mejzlik at sealevel after 5 gallons of proper break-in on stock muffs or a good set of cans. Yes, this I know from experience.

My buddy sees 6300-6400 at 5,000 feet ASL on stock muffs and 28X10mezj.

My personal experience:
H9 33% Cap, DA100, KS Cans
26lbs
1100 feet above sea level
Motor very well broken in, has 3 seasons on it.

Mejzlik 3x26x12N: To much, lose RPMs in uplines, same experience on a Comp Arf Yak with MTW cans. Prop for sale.
NX 3x26x10: Average. Not particularly great or bad, still seemed to bleed power in uplines, but took a long time. Dislike the glue at the blade butt ends cracking, I know there is a metal plate in there and all but it makes me nervous.
Mejzlik 2x28x10: Quietest 2-blade and ridiculous power. Too much for IMAC if you use more than 2/3 throttle. The plane acts like it "comes on the pipe" at about 2/3 throttle and keeps accelerating. Too fast.
NX 2x27x10: Similar to 28x10, but louder. Better for higher altitude (3500 ft plus)
Airmodels 3x25x12: Best of all worlds for IMAC. Quiet, smooth pull, linear, plenty of power for IMAC.

Has anyone flown both the 28 x 10 Mejzlik and a Vess A series prop?
