RE: forward only conversion
run the traxxas forward only, metal gears wont help you any with durability because there is really only 4 engines that i know of that have stripped the revo tranny gears, and they stripped because whoever was running them had there slipper set to tight, the STS d30m, O.S .30 vg, novarossi 528, and a modded picco .28, all the .28 and over, the 3.3 engine is not going to strip your tranny gears, and because the metal gears are a lot heavier then the plastic gears you cancel out any benefit of having the FOC in the first place, which is to get rid of rotating mass in the tranny.

I agree with ttoks, Traxxas makes a FOC kit and the thing is strong, is all the metal gears will do is add more weight and put more strain on the tranny. The one traxxas makes handles my 6.75" crawler tires with a 15t CG and 36t Spur and it has no problems of stripping or anything, I've been ruinning the FOC for about 4 months now without any problems at all

i run a home made FOC, you know how the traxxas foc gives you bigger output gears? i'm running the stock ones with my RB and they're holding up fine, and they're about 50% smaller then the FOC gears

You might as well change the other gears while your in there. When I bought the foc I also bought the close ratio gears to throw in.

i run the traxxas foc on my revo. it has an axial.32, a custom header/pipe set-up, and bigjoes, on a 3.3 chassis. reverse had stripped out, so in went the foc, no problems since.
