Gear Box Issues
hey guys,
i have had this truck (T-maxx 3.3) since easter and done a bit of bashing, but am now trying to get into some speed. i was running it on the gc (golf course) the other day doing flips and etc, i attempted a barrel roll by jumping on brakes and turning (quite cool) and it jumped into reverse when it hit the ground, so now when it is off and i try to roll it back or forwards it rolls 20cm and stops as if its locked up. i managed to force it to roll and started it again and ran it but it sounds like a grinding kinda noise is coming from the gear box. any ideas? i think if its the reverse gear i will have to go FOC is this a good move?
cheerz matty

RE: Gear Box Issues
i don't think the fwd and rev gears are dead, i think they are just missing a few teeth as it still goes into both fwd and rev. so i think im going to need a FOC what other upgrades are good to get for bashing? btw i live in Aus so some parts aren't avail.

RE: Gear Box Issues
landing off a jump in revers means the gears are dead, maybe just the reverse but likely all of them, meaning you will probably need to replace all the gears in the tranny, i suggest just going the FOC
take the tranny out and open her up, i think you'll find it's full of plastic and metal fragments.

RE: Gear Box Issues
It's hard to guess what gear is wrecked without a lot more info, so just open the tranny up and find out. If it makes the grinding sound in both forward and reverse it is likely just the primary gear, which is a very easy and cheap fix.

hey, opened it up and had a look, it white gears are ok, but the thinner of the black two is dead its the one that its hard against the brake end of the gear box, i think im going to just get a FOC, unless i can just buy the single gear. what gear is it?

RE: Gear Box Issues
Almost all of the gears and assemblies are available individually. This is all you should need to determine the part #'s.

The traxxas website is the place to go when you need to know what part # to order.
