Need a shorter prop bolt for a G82
I have several prop bolts for my G62. One is from Bennett and is tapped for the spinner bolt, which I need to use. Problem is that without the spinner backplate, the prop bolt is too long to tighten down all the way. Does anybody make a shorter, tapped prop bolt, or should I get out the hack saw / Dremel tool and cut off 1/4"?
Thanks
Sam

I say cut it with the dremel, that is what I have done and it works well. Also order another bolt of the longhter length for when you use this engine again and need a spinner. If you have a machinist buddy, he can drill and tap a bolt for you so you won't need to order one.

Cut your bolt....I agree
...another thing I have done when in this position, is use an extra prop washer up front, which comes close to the spacing of the backplate that used to be there. i guess I don't know what you are now putting on the front, since you say you still need the threaded bolt. If you are using a hub setup, like from Tru Turn, the extra prop washer will look funny, and i doubt you'll want to do it. I have found prop washers that fit inside the tru-turn hubs though. What will happen though, is you'll go to the trouble of spacing out this area for your prop bolt, then your spinner or hub bolt will be too long and bottom out, leaving you with the same problem you had in the beginning....you'll have to cut the bolt
