Does anyone have any info on these planes??? I just saw one in the new MAN magazine. I have been looking at the U-Can-Do-3D ARF, but if this one is better, it's only about $30 more. Any info would be great to have. Thanks. 2fast4u

I saw it in the newest issue of Model Airplane News (with a tri plane on the front).

http://modeltech.globalhobby.com/

globalhobby.com

That is what the ad says. It is a MODEL TECH ARF #123751, sells for around $219.00 US.

Oh well, I went to every one of those "so called" links, but didn't find the EXCITE 90 anywhere. Go figure.

It's also in the new Hobby People catalog and probably on their web site.

It does look a little nicer than the U-C-D, and doesn't have such a crappy name!

I just bought this plane this afternoon. I have never put together a Modeltech, but looking at this plane makes me wonder why! I'm amazed at all that is done on this model, from the pushrod tubes being installed to the blind nuts already in the firewall.

The quality looks very good and the build is pretty straight with only very slight, minimal warps in the ailerons and stabs... I've seen worse on GP ARFs. Not enough to worry about. Very nice looking plane. This is actually the first 3D plane that has appealed to me, and with the 14+ oz wing loading, this thing ought to be able to park on a dime.

Paid $199 at my LHS.

I also purchased an OS .91 FX to power this baby.

I started putting it together today, and it is going well, except for the poor fitting belly pan, which now fits fine. A little baking soda and CA makes a nice gap filler. I didn't mention in my first post that there are two hatches in the bottom mid/rear of the fuse for the servos to go into... Very nice since they aren't going to be hangin' out there for the whole world to see! Pushrod tube installation is top notch. I do plan on installing a DuBro steering arm as an elevator bellcrank as I don't like tying the two elevator pushrods together and attaching them to the servo arm because at max throw one *will* travel farther than the other... It's inevitable.

I'm still trying to decide on which prop to use on the FX .91. I ran it for a bit today with an APC 13x4w, and it seems to like that one, although it still isn't broken in.

Maybe it will be ready to fly Sunday!

Hi!

Can you please post the estimated RTF weight ?

Can you also post some pics of the tail ... I would really like to see how big the control surfaces are

I was out at 110th and J last Saturday and I saw this plane fly. I'm guessing it was yours and I am very impressed with it.....your flying wasn't bad either

I was flying the Freya Heli along with Chuck and his heli's.

The Excite looked like it was very predictable and a full performer.
Even the engine sounded better after some run time on it.

I WILL be taking one of these Excites back to the South East with me.

Oh yeah... You're the guy that makes helicopters do stuff that they can't *possibly* do! Quite a show, really. I'm also amazed at how far Chuck has come with his heli flying after what seems so little time. What's it been... 7 months?

I just finished replacing the OS .91 with a Saito 100, so we'll see how that does on it. MUCH nicer running engine, that's for sure. Let me know via e-mail if you want an FX 91 for your Excite... Cheap!

Yes! Chuck has come a LONG way in a short time. He's going to go farther as he's pretty dedicated.

Thanks for the offer on the 91 but I think I'm going to try the new Magnum XLS 91.
Price is hard to beat and I think their trying to make there engines better than in the past.

Saito 100 is a great engine for that plane. I flew a UcanDo 3D with one and it was real nice.
I have a OS91 surpass II that I could use if I yank it out of a H9 P-51.

Good flying to ya.

I am interested in this plane as well. We had a guest day at our field on Memorial Day, and a guy had one there. Talked to him, but he hadn't flown it yet, this was to be his first day. It looked like was having some engine problems and he left early. Wish I could have talked to him it looks great and has large control surfaces. I am like the others I would like some first hand knowledge before I buy it.

Hooked,

I'm quite pleased with the Saito 100 in the plane. Very reliable and plenty of power.

The only thing I don't like about the plane is the covering. I don't know what it is, but it sure isn't MonoKote.

Thanks Damathius, I think we have a new member in our club that has one. I'll just have to catch him when he is at the field. Of course since I posted this, I have been looking at the "shoestring" it looks like a fun flyer of a different sort.
