Getting the right sound...is it possible???
I`m starting a new project these days, building a scale model of a very famous offshore racer. Hope to use a Zenoah with gear and 2 MHZ outdrives.
But I would also like to have the correct sound of the V12 Lambo engines... or at least something like that. Anyone with good ideas how to get that "real scale" offshore engine sound??? Is it possible to build some kind of pipe to come close to a sound like that???

i was wondering the same thing. v12 sound would be cool but i think it may be a long shot to create it without a scale v engine.

In short, No
You would have to build a scale V12 4 stroke. No pipe out there will make a 2 stroke sound like a 4 stroke.

How similar does it have to sound to be cool? Maybe it would not be impossible to shape the frequency spectrum the get a V12 sound, but it would really be a challenge to design such an acoustic device. You should ask an acoustics engineer. Borrow a FFT oscilloscope and record the spectrum of the sound you have and the sound you want and send it to the engineer.

Well; I hope to get a deeper sound. I changed the mufler on a car I once had, and it sounded like a rally car after that. So I guess it is possible...

Hey ,you won't get the v12 sound you are looking for but an inline zenoah or twin zenoahs sound really good ! They would work really well with twin MHZ drives .

Jon,
Remember your dealing with only one cylinder, although you could play with the frequency with some mod to the pipe you won't get the deep rumbling you are looking for from 12 cylinder with only one.
good testing and have fun.

I am wondering if something like your after could be achieved with a rotating series of pipes coming off your zenoah pipe. I think you might be able to set something up that may give you the effect of multi cylenders though not sure if it will be spot on with a V12. Nice idea though
