I use 1/4" aircraft ply for engine rails and transoms, 1/8th aircraft ply for lengthwise frames and 1/16th aircraft ply for all remaning cross frames and skin since it's more flexible than 1/8th ply and considerably stronger than luan. It also gives you a lighter boat that's easier to handle on the beach.

Smiley, the ply I used is 6.5mm BB grade exterior ply for the frames and 3mm AC grade exterior ply for the skin. I got it from Australian Timbers on Magill Rd, just east of Fullarton Rd.

It's not cheap, but the quality is awesome & there's enough wood in the 2 sheets to easily make 2 boats. cost me just over 100 bucks for both sheets (1200 by 2400mm)
