Default Another On Board Starter question

What are you using to activate the starter?

I can use a micro switch to control the relay

or

A manual switch on the plane

Are there any other/better ideas?

Thanks for the reply on the glow.
I was asking about the electric starter motor for the onboard starting system.

Get an electronic speed control of the proper power and voltage and install it with a switch.
That's what I'm doing on my ZDZ 210

Great idea!
Do you use the speed controller to close a relay or directly drive the starter motor? Any idea what the starter motor draws while cranking?

The speed control is directly connected to the motor, but the current draw depends on the motor used and the type of engine it is cranking. On mine I am using a Astro Flight Cobalt 40 since I am cranking over a ZDZ 210. and the voltage used is 24.

Thanks for the idea! I am usine the FEMA system from Hobby Lobby. It is a 12 volt motor using a 10 cell pack. Right now I am activating the relay by servo but I like your idea. I may change it.
