RE: Which ball ends wear the best?
I have been using the Dubro ball links with good success so far I have several hundred hard flights on my yak with no perceptible slop in the linkage, but those were slightly different links than the ones I have been getting from the LHS more recently.

I've been using the DuBro for 4 or 5 yrs. Never had one wear out or get sloppy.

I've tried the Great Planes, but only on a couple planes and those planes just happened to have rather quick expiration dates. Not from the ball links. My thumbs. I like to buy in large bulk whenever I can, and I can't find the GP in packages of more than 4, so thats why I've mostly used the DuBro.

I haven't really tried any other brands. Use what works, take the free shipping from Tower, go fly.

I started with the original Rocket City links a long time ago. Tried the H-9 and Dubro, along with a couple of others. I keep coming back to the Rocket City/Nelson links when they are available because they have always worked the best. At least for me.

I have some at home that I took off a 30% Yak after one season. They are a little loose IMO. I think they are Dubro.
I remember reading a thread a few years ago where someone said that certain brands wear better than others. I'm setting up two new planes and want to go with something where the ball joints don't loosen up so soon.

If small amounts of oil are accumulating on the carb linkages the oil will attract grit and work it into the ball joints causing quicker wear no matter what brand used. Not really a big thing but with the small amount of surface area these type of ball joints have almost no slop should ever be allowed because they could slip off the post quite easily. For that reason I put a small washer outside the ball to keep the linkage from popping off.

have been using the h9 ball links and cant fault them, just be sure to use thread lock on the retaning nuts. the washer above is a good way to ensure they dont pop off.

I ended up buying the Rocket City ones today from Nelson Hobbies Those were on my 30% for two years and there is zero play in them. I think the Dubros wear out fast. Like Jerry said at Nelson, not all nylon is the same. Apparently theirs is some durable stuff.

I've had good luck with all of the Dubro, Hanger9 and Nelson links so far... I agree with Alta keep them clean and dry and they will last as long as your plane... :-)
