Sure, it's fine. You don't need a battery pack for it, the ESC that comes with the trex provides the power to the receiver through the throttle channel. Saves you the weight of additional batteries.

It's the receiver I am using and so far, no problem at all.... you will loose of sight the t-rex before you lose reception!, don't worry about that, good choice!

Okay,
Thanks!
It just looks so small that I thought surely it couldn't work!
The instructions say to mount it in front of the motor, so if You all don't have any objections about that, I'll probably use some of the extra sticky foam tape from the gyro and mount it that way. I'm a little concerned about the emf of the motor being close to the receiver like that.
Now I gotta wait for the Deans connectors to arrive. There's always something.

With out being modest, i think i have a clean set up. The wires run inside the frame and excess is bunched underneath the frame, hidden in shrink wrap. I would not mount RX close to the esc and would keep it far away from the motor. It IS important to mount the battery at the specified location as it will have a MAJOR effect on roll balance. Even if you dont do rolls , you will one day and balance of the heli is a must

So, would You mount the tiny ar6100 rx maybe opposite of the gyro on top of the rear of the heli? I don't know where else to put it.
Can You or someone post pics of their setup that works good for them? I like the idea of shrink wrapping the excess underneath.
Thanks,
Gary

Sorry pics now posted, i thought they were attached..... anyway you can see how ive mounted the rx. Very tidy, best place for wires and good for the antenna. Dont be put off by th size of the RX, rest assured i have had mine so far away that it was a tiny dot in the sky. A little scary but worth it, BTW i have a DX7

BTW my RX is mounted with velcro (tongue and loop or what ever some call it.. the stuff the battery is mounted with). It was mounted with zip ties but i removed them and the RX hold well with Velcro only. I do 3D but more importantly pulling hard negivtive G is a test for hold and I would prob pull that every battery. So far it still holds, i have to admit i was a little nervous at first but 50 plus flights and no prob. I guess it weighs next to nowt.

Thanks for the tip ! I, too will use the Velcro and I will mount it back behind where You did. I might zip tie the Gyro just for a redundancy, though.
I wish I invented the zip tie and velcro !
