Default Better flying plane?

Lets hear some opinons on these planes.
Aerowoks: 36% Katana, 33% wagstaff Extra 330L
Carden: 35% Edge.
Of these three planes which one flys the best?
3D? IMAC?

None of them. The person on the sticks flys IMAC. The planes only do what they are told and in the manner instructed.

The one Quique is flying. Simple Buy the one you think you can fly best and don't worry about what other people think.

The Edge and Katana are going to excel at 3D.. the extra at IMAC.

Both the Extra and Katana are probably more rounded for both. Edge will fly it well.. but I am not a fan of the breaks or snaps of an Edge.

Just my 2 cents... I haven't flown a big Katana just talked to a couple who have and I know Pat has seen that one fly

I guess what I'm trying to figure out is, which airframe should I throw gear in and go fly.
I agree, Extras are more well rounded for freestyle as well as precision but what I don't like about the Aeroworks 330L is the limited travel of the elevators(only about 45') as compared to the edge's 55' of travel.
Extra-smaller, lighter, greater thrust to weight.
Edge-heavier, but more control authority.
Katana-not covered yet..
Maybe I'm just over thinkin' this.
Oh well..

First I'm not a very good flyer, but I'm getting better. I have a 36% SD Katana. It flys much better than the 88" EF Yak I have. The Yak does some things easier like rolling harriers, KE loops and more, but the Katana goes exactly where you point it. The Yak is like a big foamy, the Katana is like a Yak on steroids.

You're a pretty good flier, but an Edge is a 3D monster, not really a precision specialist. Your Katana would fly precision in it's sleep if it carried a little more weight up front rather than in the back, but that's not the way you like to fly. Good for you because you are flying for enjoyment and extracting that and more from your activities. I've but rarely seen a 36% plane fly as light as your Katana.

In this I disagree completely with Jake because I know that a Katana, in qualified hands, can win any contest out there. It has before. So can an Extra, Ultimate, Yak, Giles, Sukhoi, and an Edge in very talented hands. You can go back through the high dollar contest finishes and see the basis for that statement. All of them, with the exception of the Sukhoi since it had not been on the market, have won big money events.

In each case the competitor made the difference in how the plane was flown and how the maneuvers were presented. IMO far too much time and effort is wasted in choosing "the right plane" for this or that type of flying. If you practice enough and try hard enough you would win a contest flying a Piper Cub or a Commanche. This was proven in AMA glider competiton some years back. Everyone had their super set up, high dollar whatzizts and some guy comes to the contest with a Great Planes box stock Spirit (along those lines anyway) and blows them all away. Twice if I recall correctly.

He won not because of the plane, but because he worked at it through hours and hours of practice, and in doing so he got to know his plane as well as it could be known. That's what makes a winner. Desire, work, and practice wins contests, not the name or manufacturer of the plane, so pick one that's appealing to you and get your butt to work.

That's why I said in my first reply that the planes don't fly IMAC, the competitors do. The planes are just the tools, and a true craftsman can turn out excellent products with any decent tool.

Yes
Also not sure what this 45 and 55 degree on 2 different airframes has to do with performance. Some just need less to do the same.
As said, set up and dedication/practice/presentation (can) make a superior airframe.
In my opinion the planes will probably all perform in a similar manner to a degree once built, and it is up to the owner to test and tweak the airframe to ones liking and expectations
It's not like you are comparing a Beaver to a Chipmunk.

Thanks guys, it makes total sense a airplane simply does what it is told the pilot is the key. I imagine all three planes are more or less even in performace. So the rest is up to me.Thanks again!
