Default Evo 35GT ignition voltage?

Anybody running the Evo 35GT2, with the ICU-LB ignition module? Does this thing really require a minimum of 7.2v (6 nicad or nimh cells) to operate? I keep getting a "low voltage" flashing light on the LED with a 4-cell or a 5-cell (freshly charged) pack.

Thanks for any info!

Would a Evo 35 gt2 quit in flight using a fully charged 4.8v 1500nicad in the ignition? I had my Sundowner go down on maiden and I'm trying to weed out all the possiblilties.

Thx

yes it would, if it's an ICU-L or ICU-S ignition.
The ignition needs at least 6 volts lower treshold. The first types ICU needed to be above 6.4 volts all the time

Thx...well I guess that was my problem!!! And would you believe that this happened to me twice in a row. First Sundowner I bought crashed three flights in. Bought another kit and placed engine and radio into the new one and BOOM 5 minutes into maiden engine quits again and CRASH.

Man if only I have used a 6 volt

Most engineers don't read manuals

So true. Well this won't happen to me again. Matter for fact I will do all my engine breakin and such on the test stand before bolting to the airframe.
