Default Actual DL-50 weight vs. Brillelli 46

I have been looking at the brillelli 46 cc and the DL-50 for a possible future project. The Brillelli is 56 ounces RTF. I am assuming this is with muffler and ignition. The DL-50 weighs 48 ounces w/o muffler. Does anyone have a weight of the DL-50 with muffler and ignition or a weight of the brillelli 46 bare? i would like to know which one is actually lighter when bolted onto a plane. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

I have each the B46 and the DL50..
Hard to tell any weight difference but the DL has MORE power..
Quite a bit more power...
The B46 vibrates somewhat...

The B46 grows on you...
Do not get me wrong, I LOVE the motor, wicked sounding..
Scott is the VERY BEST at customer service..
Walt...

I was going to make the same statement about my own experiences with having both engines, but thought better of it, as I don't want to contribute to another thread spiraling out of control because the brand zealots must prosletyze. But, what the heck? I'm not telling anyone what to do.

My DL 50's do put out quite a bit more power than the B46's I have had.

That doesn't make one better than the other, or worse. Just a difference that has been my experience.

Scott Ellingson - Brillelli - MOST excellent service and support.
Bob Kramer - DL USA - MOST excellent service and support.

Well I don't think there is anything wrong with bringing that up.

The 46 spins a 20x8 mid to high 7k and a 21x8 low 7k where as the DL spins a 22 and 23" prop. The 46 isn't really designed to compete against the 50cc class engines out there.

It works better in the smaller planes where you want a lot of power but the 50cc class would be too much. IE EF 74" Yak or the new AW 35cc Extras.

If you are looking at 85"-90" wings span planes the 50cc is going to be a better choice. However if you are looking at slilghtly smaller and 15 pounds or under the 46 works just fine for everything from basic to 3D flying.

Are we really all that concerned about 3 to 4 ounces of engine weight difference? We aren't building th eplane for most, so we aren't weighing the basla that goes into them. If they were foamies I could understand concerns about a few ounces but a 50cc gasser? Come on, this stuff just has to stop sooner or later.

Just my opinion, but I think we've gone over the edge with a few grams or ounces.

Weight will be a big issue for me as I am planning on putting one of these two motors in a 78-80" plane. It will not have the wing area of a true 50cc plane. If you count a few ounces here and a few ounces there, you can lose a pound pretty quickly. Count pennies and the dollars take care of themselves type of approach. BTW the reason I will be using one of these motors as opposed to a 35-40cc is that the choices and prices in the 50cc class are much better and I like to have some reserve power.

So you'll have more power available to fly the plane than you need. Not bad. Pick the engine that will have the best service in the long run and don't sweat a few ounces total.

Don't go to glow!

Take the B46, and have a very nice plane with ample power.

I have a Seagull 70" Extra 260 with a 45cc RCGF in it, everything done to lighten it. Came out at 11 pounds, and goes like the clappers.
Hovers and rockets out even at 6800 feet above see level, I love the combo.
The DL will fly the wings off this thing.
It's the plane on the left.
Regards
Andreas

Oh, sorry I forgot, the RCGF spinns a 21X8 at 7500-7600 RPM Menz S

I could post some video if you like?
