OS A5 glow plugs Questions
Recently bought some and I tried to put one in today and it seems like the top of the plug is to large for the glow plug wire to fit over the top. I even took out the plug and tried to force it on like that but I still had no luck. Any suggestions? Do these plugs work for a Traxxas 2.5? If not what is another good suggestions for medium or clod plugs that will work for me.
Thanks
Thanks

RE: OS A5 glow plugs Questions
Yeah they should work fine, persoanlly I owuld go out and buy a glow igniter they work so much better then the traxxas blue wire method does. But yes they will work as long as it's not a turbo plug(cant recall if it is or not).
As for Danker16 a cold plug is better used during the summer or when using above 20% nitro. So depending what fuel your using it may be the better plug to go with, the higher the nitro percentage the cooler the plug you want so you take lessen the chance of haveing pre-detonation. So your LHS guy might be right, but I find O.S plugs to be good plug. Never really had a problem with them. The only time I will use anything other then O.S plugs is if my supply of new plugs are diminished, my old but still good plus are alos diminished and the LHS doesnt have any O.S plus. And the likely hood of all three happening at one time is very slim to none as I have 3 new glow plugs right now and at least 5 old but still good plugs ready to go.

RE: OS A5 glow plugs Questions
You guys dont understand, I already have them and the blue wire wont fit over the top of the plug, is there any way to expand the little spring in the blue wire?
Also, if I got a glow igniter the ez start that i have would not work, would it??
Thanks

Get a glow plug heater and ditch the blue wire. Yes the sleezy start will still work but the light on the wand that says "glow plug" will not ligt up because it will not sence it.

RE: OS A5 glow plugs Questions
Yeah. The spring on the end of the blue wire has a difficult time with almost all plugs except for traxxas plugs. Back when I was still using the easy start, all I did was cut the heatshrink off of the spring and take two needle nose plyers and unspring the spring a little so it would fit over the larger plugs then put new heatshrink on it (to prevent grounding against the head). It takes quite a bit of force and you have to slightly unwind several coils to get a good solid fit. If you unspring the spring to fit the larger plugs it will end up being loose if you ever go back to the traxxas plugs. A simple alternative is to make your own plug from a slightly larger spring or a small female bullet connector pinched down to fit.

RE: OS A5 glow plugs Questions
i tried plugging the blue wire into the A5, it's just too hard to do it i chopped it off and made my own wire for the A5 out of some wire my brother had for arts, but i hate the ez start, so i went glow igniter and pull start.
ah i feel better, OS plugs are very good, the single LC3 that came stock with the engine last me like more then half a gallon, and so did all the A5s i have

You can also get a Alligator plug and cut off the coil on the end of the blue wire and solder the alligator plug on and never have to worry about having a plug not fit.

I do understand and gave some advice based upon it. The best thing to do personall would to be go out and buy a glow igniter, it will fit any glow plyg you will ever put in that engine and will heat up the glow plug much more then the cheezy start ever will. And as said already the cheezy start will still work, just the indicator light will not come on.
Now for danker, a good finely tuned engine will result in glow's plug lasting for several gallons. I have had glow plugs last for over 3 gallons, but replaced it cause It tought it was time for a new one, but still have those glow plugs as back ups if I ever need one.

RE: OS A5 glow plugs Questions
I had the first LC3 on my .18TM go through break-in all the way to the 9 gallon mark. I replaced it when I rebuilt the mill, but honestly I think I could have kept using it if I had been so inclined.
