I saw some stuff that is made for car tires at the Canadian Tire. It had a fine point that made detail work easier. How well does shoe polish hold out?

it holds for a while but it wears off kind of fast. i tried using it on the lettering on the tires on my kenworth once. i found that silver paint works the best and holds up real well.
