Default strut and rudder question, does anyone know

I have a 43" Challenger and am going to put a stinger drive on it. How far out from the transom is a good spot for the prop? And then where should my rudder be? The leading edge aligned with the strut, further back, or the middle of the rudder blade even with the prop? What is the best way to set this mono up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks, thats about what I thought. I cant remember which is the props leading edge. The part that hits the water first or the back of the prop where the prop nut is?

think leading the way and trailing behind...

Leading edge (for a prop in this case) is the face or edge that hits the water first (where the drive dog is), trailing edge being the back where water flows out or off the blades (where the nut goes). The strut blade is the same...leading edge faces the trasom, trailing edge faces the vast open water!!

Thanks, thats what I thought. What stinger does everyone recommend to get the prop out that far? The speedmaster isnt that long and about the only one I have found that is that long is the Top Secret stinger. It is also adjustable. Are there any others that will work?

It doesnt have to be exactly 4 inches to the leading edge of the prop and if im correct the Speedmaster is only about 1/4 inch short of 4inches.That being shorter will help to settle the boat and not get so much bow lift. You can also look at the insane drive but they too recommend that you cut the drive for that same reason, less bow lift.I run Top Secret hardware on hulls 50" plus and Speedmaster on my smaller hulls. With my past experience i will never put that long of a drive on a short hull like you have.I had a challenger 48" and because of the way the hull is designed they tend to get real flighty at times, especially if not trimmed correctly. The shorter drive will make the hull handle alot better than the longer drive because the hull is small.

Wish I would have gotten your reply earlier. I just order the Top Secret drive. But he says it is adjustable up to 5/8". So I guess I can adjust it shorter than 4". Thanks for your response.

Sorry that may not be possible.I measured mine and with the stinger as far in as it could go it measured exactly 4" from transom, then with the 1/8"-1/4" gap between the end of stinger and drive dog puts the leading edge of the prop around 4 1/2"-4 3/4" away from transom. If your just having fun then it should still work, you will just have to set your trim angle properly on your stinger.

Actually i measured it again for you and it was 3 7/8" from transom which will then only move the leading edge of prop to about 4 3/8"-4 5/8" from transom, depending on the gap between stinger and drive dog.But as i mentioned it should still work for you.
