Default MVVS 1.6 Glow : Please Help

Hey Guys,

I have this engine, which I purchased yesterday as I wanted a powerful 2stroke glow engine above 20cc...I ordered the engine and exhaust based on the dealer's recommendation, but unfortunately, the dealer is not very well technically equiped to answer some of my questions. I have read some posts at RCUniverse about this engine, but still unclear. So, here are my questions,

1. What fuel do I use as the manual states 20% oil/methanol but Pe's website states 5% oil/methanol? I am suspecting that the manual supplied is very old and that the website's information is up todate. Or, can I just use CoolPower 5% Nitro (16% oil) all the way from breakin to normal use. Or can I dilute the CoolPower 5%Nitro (16%) with methanol to make it CoolPower 1.5% Nitro (5%oil). I plan to run 18x6 prop on this engine. Or can I just mix up methanol and KLOTZ 100 to get the oil/methanol ratio that I want?

2. The exhaust that I ordered with the engine is the 3266 pipe + the metal header. My question is that, I'll be using this engine on a funfly plane that I am scratch building and plan to hover and do some 3D stuff with it...will this pipe give me good throttle response or is this pipe only suitable for 'pattern' type of manuevers where its give more power at the top end? In other words, I am expecting this pipe to increase power and respond in way that a mouse can pipe would. If this pipe is not useful for my application, I can always return it to the dealer before using
it.

Thanks to all who reply.

Regards
Marcus

Hello Marcus!
Can not help you with the fuel question, but if the glow version has roller bearings on the rod, like the 1.60 gas , then 5% oil
ought to be enough.
I use the same pipe/header on my 1.60 gas engine, and the throttle response is very linear, it is also a quite silent pipe.
I get 8400rpm on a APC 18x8

Lars,

Thanks for the reply. Yes the glow version has the roller bearings on the conrod, so I guess that 5% of oil is good. Thanks for the word on the pipe.

Marcus

have you run in your engine yet. i would like to know how it performs.
do you have the rc carb or the walbro on it??

for this engine use 20% oil during break in and then reduce oil level to 10%.
