ZDZ 50 NG & ES CF Pipe , anyone tried yet?
I am trying to get out of my ZDZ 50 NG every single bit of power at less weight ever possible.
I am flying at 5000 ft ASL. The airframe is one of those BME YAK that were sold 2 years ago from Canada, the area was less than the announced and weight wise will be more, anyway this is not the aim of this thread, my point is to justify light weight components on this airframe to compensate for the relatively heavy airframe.
I already have a ZDZ50 NG and was wondering if en ES pipe will provide that extra at less cost weight wise.
Has anyone tried this combo?
What would be the recommended header length to start with?
Any comments about this pipe?
Regards

Albatross,
You can most likely make some improvement with an ESC pipe. For one, you'll get more RPM than stock muffler and perhaps two, you might even save a little weight over stock muff. The ESC pipes are really nice all-around. Remember though, they improve high-end RPM and don't necessarily improve mid-range i.e. throttle transition. Having said that, I experience good high-end and mid-range on a 26cc with an ESC pipe. You might check out the forum on the Extremeflight 50cc Yak as many were using those pipes in that bird. You might learn something there.
David.

That's a good source, I will check that forum.
BTW I whish I were dealing with an EF YAK airframe, I wouldn't be thinking about installing ES CF pipes.
The bison muffler would be enough even at this altitude.
Any other opinon about ES pipes?
thanks

There seems to be to me another thread that dealt about ZDZ 50 vs. CF pipes, which I can't find. Somewhere along this thread, they recommended a specific header length for the ZDZ 50. Does anyone know?
BTW, as per their web site they offer two types seemingly for 50 size engines:
ES50G
Designed for 45-50 cc gas engines.
