RE: e-revo or just revo?
Get a normal revo, beocuse you can go for longer amounts of time by just refiling and the batts, you have to wate till they are charged... so i would go with the nitro revo 3.3

RE: e-revo or just revo?
To OP: It depends what you like best, if you don't want the mess of nitro then switch to electric, you also might be a little faster.
To the people who said brushless is taking over; rc would not last without nitro because a lot of us like the thrill nitro brings. I know I would probably not be in this hobby if there were no such things as nitros. Nitros bring a thrill to me that electric can't even come close to fulfilling, I love the thought of actually running an engine that runs on real fuel in my rc. Another thing too, I've actually had more problems with my electrics than my two nitro engines combined, electrics are complicated whether people want to admit it or not, they have these motherboards that look like a maze of silver things snaking around on a green platform, and a whole bunch of other crap thats tricky to understand. I'M NOT SAYING NITRO IS BETTER. It's just these are my reasons why I like nitro since I can see nitro is really getting dissed in this thread by electrical people who for some reason like their electric that goes fast but lacks attitude.
NoShelfqueen. Have you ever heard a revo with a racing tuned exhaust revving? They don't sound like no go-ped!!!

IF YOU ARE RACING TRACKS,you wont want all the speed and torque the brushless/lipo has!!! I had a revo converted with NOVAC/MAX-AMPS lipo and on the track it was really un-controllable,I sold it. I now have a PE-REVO and love it...If you like to go fast straight, brushless, other than that,i found it useless!!!

RE: e-revo or just revo?
i got an e-revo and i have a savage. there both fun but each has its ups and downs. nitro-noise complaints, a little more maintainence (lazy people), fun, real sounding and smelling
electric-quiet, easier maintainence, not authentic

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Speed controller question for E revo. Is it smooth when using reverse ? I have one I just got and its pretty wierd when using reverse, not instant. Is this done to aviod slamming into reverse, or is the speed controller having problems ?
I like the sound of Nitro, but with the cost of fuel and the mess, its just not worth it anymore to me. I fly planes and have been in rc for years, and have just went all electric !
Thanks !

Personally, imo(and this is just me) I would rather have to put fuel in a nitro vehicle and be able to have the sound, smoke and added "realism" to it that both of those things add; then have to wait for batteries to charge after having them run out, etc; and even despite the price of nitro fuel; it has not been as bad as one might think as far as that aspect of it goes....

RE: e-revo or just revo?
I Love nitro, but I have to say, nitro and elec's really need cool down time between runs (if you want an engine to last), and a second set of batteries is not that big of a deal. So waiting is just a stepping stone. With the big jumps batteries have made in the last few years alone, I would be willing to bet that in the next two years you will see some high powered (uncontrollable-sick insanely fast) lipo trucks that will be faster, lighter and run times longer than nitro.
But you are correct there is nothing like it, and it does rock !

RE: e-revo or just revo?
I recently won a 30-minute nitro main with my ERevo. No battery swap with a set of Thunder Power 2s4p 8k packs. Neu 1512 2d/f motor with Mamba Max/BEC. It was an MT/truggy combined race. There were a couple that were faster than me, but they had mechanical problems.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
my batteries out last the nitro guys tank I run with and I am only running 6000mah lipos. Bashing I get over an hour with my two sets of 6000mah lipos in the e-revo and can charge a set in 30 mins. So not much down time for me. The only thing is that the motor I am useing right now is too small for the truck and has heat issues but once that is solved Im good. Also getting another set of batts so I can play all day I just like the simplicity of the plug and play of the electrics and the low end torque they provied. To each his own I guess.

Having lost my over 80% of my hearing, electric is my choice. I used to be able to fine tune nitro by hearing the subtle differences in slightly rich vs slightly lean. not anymore[&o]
I can get close with temp monitoring but it's not the same. Also, I try to keep my environment as quite as possible and wear ear plugs when I do race.
Lipo & brushless have made it possible for me to continue with RC in general.
I say E-revo, but of course, I'm biased...

RE: e-revo or just revo?
I totally agree, I lOVE the SOUND and SMELL of nitro... also, half the fun of owning nitro, is the job of FIXING things that go wrong, and when you fix something, you test it out and are proud of the work that you did...
IMO, batteries are for youngsters that don't know how to work on things.. When I was young, it was easy to charge a battery and then plug it into the truck and go.. then you gotta charge (and wait), and then go again.. I like being able to fill it with fuel, change a glow plug if needed, and then let er rip... IMO NITRO is the only way.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Well I am the local rc machanic. I fix nitro and electric. I prefur to run electric b/c its easy and quick, I have no tuning to mess with. If I get a 10min break inbetween jobs I can plug and go. Also the state park I normally run at doesnt allow nitro b/c of the noise
It might be for youngsters but its funny to see peoples faces when my electric trucks smoke there nitro ones (most nitro owners dont know about the power of a brushless system and they think electric is slow) So when I am working on there car I get to show off my stuff and surprize the crap out of them! Thats the best part about electric is killing the nitro guys ego Just messing with you all (please dont kill me [sm=lol.gif] )

HAHA.. yeah i see what you mean there mycarisaser... It seems to me, that if you put enough money into an electric, you CAN make it fast... I know of the brushless systems and what not, but its just the whole thing about working on an engine and hearing/smelling the nitro that is what i love... I used to play with the electrics when i was younger, and i just 'transitioned' to nitro... I don't think i will EVER go back, I'm stuck on the 'DARK SIDE'... [8D][sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

I know what you mean about the sweet smell and the realistic sound of nitro having owned a few my self. My first nitro was the origanal t-maxx. it was loads of fun but since I live on a sand bar, the sand killed the motor in no time. There wasnt all the cool filters that are out today. I have also had a savage and a lst2. I ended up converting all of them when the stock motors finallly gave out just b/c no one around here knew much about the electric stuff.
The only thing I dont miss since I went all electric is the cleaning. There is a whole lot less of it now . My planes are electric too but nitro plane motors hold tune alot better than the truck ones for some reason(i am thinking of getting a very large 80+in nitro wwII plane to fly at the local field) electrics that big cost WAY TO MUCH!!!!

No matter how old you are, you will tear up these trucks no matter what it runs on. And you will have to fix it. I don't agree
with elec's are for youngsters, I like the noise and the power an all, but now days its cleaner to deal with and easier. As for
the wait to charge thing, again, extra set of batteries and your no more waiting than the nitro guys to let his engine cool (if he's smart).
If you put enough money in anything, its going to help. With brushless and lipo's, you could easily kill run times of Nitro right now.
With a large set of lipos and a really expensive esc you could in fact run three to four times longer than a nitro truck now, and out
run it. So again, no waiting on charging, nitro guys would be stopping to refuel will the lipo guys are smileln and wave'n at ya !
The Nitro plane engines hold a tune better as they have a prop blowing over the engine and pretty much stay at a normal temp
througth the run this is why they stay in tune so well. I have three planes that I almost never need to mess with. Trucks on the
other hand, run hotter through the run, and over heat easier. This helps eat plugs and when you fire them back up while warm
throws it out of wack.
Both elec's and nitros have there good points !

RE: e-revo or just revo?
Ok i have to put my 2 cents in here. I heard a comment about the fuel prices being high. Well look at us now regular unleaded is 4 bucks a gallon but we will keep using it. As long as it is available we will use fuel, if it is there we will use it no matter how much it costs lol. Just like nitro i know i will keep running it. My buddy out here in Iraq has a brushless XXX-T and the little bugger hauls a++. But I like both dont own a electric yet but maybe one day i will own one.

I personally like nitro. But this has to be one of the best displays of an E-Revo's power. And the title says it all.

RE: e-revo or just revo?
i have my revo converted to the ofna 250cc fuel tank i never have heat problemsbecause i have fans and air scoops every where most of the people that have probs didnt break in the motor properley and thats why i dont reallt have probs tuning i let my revo 3.3 set 2 years and started up right away so i dont know why you guys hatin on nitro. but on the other hand i have an hv-maxx (6.5t) and i smoke all nitros at the track at my lhs they hooked me up with a good set of lipos and i get amazing run times at a descent cost. you cant really compare the e-revo and the revo because the are not even alike besides the name drivetrain and suspension other than that it is not fair to compare i used to have a rustler when i was7 then i got a e-maxx at 10 the revo at 13 and now i have a revo e-revo e-maxx ae b4 slash and my two revos really own at the track people often ask me why my e-revo is hyped up on mountian dew and peaple dont know the capibilitey of elec they just nitro is the only way.
