Fantastic Classic Jets Abingdon
Just finished unpacking from another great day in Oxfordshire. Raining when we arrived, but it soon stopped and flying continued until near dark. Enjoyed several test flights today, all good. No time to post pixs now, so will do later/AM

As always, many thanks to Dick Spreadbury and his crew of helpers, cooks and co-ordinators!
Pity the weather gods didn't quite give us what we hoped for, but never the less, there was plenty of flying between the showers.
Thanks also to Dave Wilshire for all the help he's given me during the construction and set-up of my BVM Bobcat and also for carrying out the maiden test flight. This man has been a star in answering countless emails and phone calls as well as an invite to visit his "Sweet Shop" to assist with the setting up of my turbine.

I too enjoyed the chat. Things is, I could chat all day!!
As this is the first model I have flown on 2.4 (I have always been a Futaba 35Mhz.....never had a problem!) I was a bit worried about it.
It was therefore reassuring to hear your opinions on the Spektrum unit and also my installation.
Really pleased with my Bobcat, especially it's stability at slow speeds with the flaps and gear down, something which my old Bobcat XL didn't have. Also the fact that with the crow set up, you can slow it up very quickly......great for my usual grass patch.
All the best

I also test flew a Skymaster Gripen/P80 set up, the nicest Gripen I have flown so far!
Big thanks to the usual crew who work hard for our fun!
The pixs make it look colder than it felt!

The Harpoon II Hawk 100 turbine package is working well, 8 flights now and faultless operation, long flight times on just 2ltrs of fuel
Little Stevie got to fly my newer Spark EDF (so I could take some shots :-)
I also had the Spark turbine/JetCat P60 out for a blast.

RE: Fantastic Classic Jets Abingdon
This is a good social event and i got to talk to alot of people and learned much, several models caught my eye including Jason Fletchers ballistic Bobcat!! he later told me that it was powered by a Merlin 90 . . . so much power in such a small package! I think it was Nick smith who was flying his Kingcat . . . . what a stunning model!! looks as if it was powered by one of the larger jetcats (180/200) you could hear the power on take off! . . . awesome!! The large CARF lightnings were flown with vigour, it seems you can really play with those. The yellow/pink/blue one was being flown very skillfully indeed! but both this and the NAVY schemed model suffered retract problems. Towards the end of the day i saw a small edf model . . . think it was an F35, being reduced to packing foam but apart from this i dont think there was any major accidents . . . . thankfully. Falcon 120 seems to be growing in popularity as there was quite a few there, a friend test flew his late in the day with a P80! A good day was had by all regardless of the weather.
Worzey,
Spektrum is a fantastic system! the spektrum flight log is worth while for monitoring the quality of your link, you do not have to leave it in the model (mine are mounted in the model as it is only small) you can plug it in after you have landed or range checked etc but make sure you do it before you turn the model off as the information will be lost otherwise. Hope to see you at the next Classic jets.

Hi, Dave. This is Hector from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I saw a BD-5 in the pics.
Is there any way to contact the owner, ans if possible get some pics from the plane and inside
fittings?. I'll appreciate.
Thanks;
Hector

Taken a while to get round to posting this, but enjoyed a great day at Classic Jets on the 12th!
Wx was kind for this time of year with plenty of flying!
Great to catch up with everyone - look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Cheers Nick - it was a good day, rounded off in the Black Horse as usual.
Sorry we had to leave early but I'm glad you managed to lever Geoff and Mark away from the bar, even though I'm told it took you until until closing time to do it!
Just out of interest, of the 47 pilots who registered, 31 were on 2.4 GHz...66% compared to 46% back in October (more are moving to the dark side!) and the most numerous type present was the CARF Flash...first time the Boomerang has been overtaken for ages!
BTW, got wind today that people from DE were there too!
Don't work too hard Nick, and if you're in the UK over Xmas, maybe see you at Wtn.
Cheers,
Dick

RE: Fantastic Classic Jets Abingdon
I've only just spotted this thread.
Thanks to Dick and everyone for a great event. It was a day of many firsts for me, my first jet meet, my first flight with a jet, first time using 2.4 and my first bouncer of a landing on tarmac !!!! lol
All in all i enjoyed it very much and learnt alot, including how to avoid crap landings after my first flight, well sort of
Cheers to Jason for all his help, advice, calling and piss taking, made me feel right at home.
