I dont think anyone has anything to comment on it since there is no real practical use for in rock crawlers.... I mean what do you expect people to say about something that is unused...

well thats four foot pounds of torque- isnt that what everybody says rock crawling is all about? steering is the first thing i could think of. run four of them and go Direct drive. use your imagination.

I wouldnt use it because of the major reduction in speed.

No you wouldnt, its just a standard size servo. It will probably use less energy because it wont be struggling the whole time.

yea its slow but im not speeding arround on the rocks im puting my tires where i want them. as for the power thing 6.0v is 6.0v no mater how you look at it. i run 2 7955's now at and that cost me bout $100 each
where i could run a $15 servo and get twice the strength.
i got some $ to burn i think im gonna get one and tinker around laugh if you want!
ill let let all know how it works out.

If you get one show how you mounted it to the truck and how you hooked up the steering. While it is a bit slow that shouldn't matter much. The fact it is huge and exposed is what concerns me the most. If mounted properly though I would think it could be a cheap way to get the steering power you want.

Yeah, for crawlers, steeing speed should not be a factor like it would be in racing. So, 0.32 sec transit for a 60degree arc is really not too bad, the 5955, 5995, and 5955 TGs all get about 0.23sec transit speed for a 60degree sweep, and I have seen people actually race with those servos (off rouad of course).

I too think that space and mounting will be somwhat of a challenge, I am thinking such a servo would be more useful in larger scale RCs and, well, as it was initially designed for, robotics.

We have actually sold several units to those mounting them in crawlers. Although 5:1 ratio sounds slow, when you actually see them in operation they are still fast.
