My first "Giant" plane
I know it's just into the giant category but i'm pretty pumped anyways.
GP Yak 25%
O.S. 160FX
Hitec 5625's on the ailerons and elevator halves
JR 8611 on the Rudder
Now i just need the snow to melt so i can break in the engine and get it in the air.
Edit- since this photo i have painted the canopy black.

I flew several of these for people, mainly maiden's, and from what I saw, they are very nice planes but it seems the front side of the CG range is actually very neutral to slightly tail heavy. GP did it right with the performance series of planes, I had both the 27% Cap232 and the Ultimate and loved them both

RE: My first "Giant" plane
Thanks for the heads up on the CG i think i will balance it just a pinch forward of the recommended CG just to be on the safe side. Better nose heavy for a maident than tail heavy!

Flyboy76 I have the GP 330S extra that i decided needed a DL 50. More than enough power. And even with all that extra weight she still just floats in. It will stall if i let the speed drop to much on approach, but that is only if i try to land it like my 100X. I balanced mine right at the front edge of the CG and it flys stable and predicable. With the 160 os it ought to fly like a dream!

I also have an OS 1.60 in mine, and it flys very well with that engine. Mine came out quite tail heavy, and I ended up having to add wieght to the cowl.

RE: My first "Giant" plane
yes i am going to have to add weight as well. I have the battery packs mounted on the motor box, i added a second pack for weight and redundancy for piece of mind. I'm still going to have to add some weight to the nose though.

I just used a black spray balm from the hardware store and did several light coats. then i made sure the canopy was sealed all the way around.
I will be able to tell you later this week what it's going to take to balance this thing as i'm waiting on a prop and some lead weights to finish up.
