if youre planning on modding, stay away!! get the artr and put the good stuff in it!! heres a list of everything i put in mine:

Why do you say to stay away fom the RTR. I thought all of the hop-ups for the AX10 series fit that rig. I am looking at getting the ax10rtr for that reason. Im new to crawling and wanted something I could "grow" with, plus the price is real nice.

The RTR is fine....The list part list Mahogany is talking about will cost you a fortune....!!! Most of the RTR parts are upgradeable from the regular AX10.....A safe bet for new crawlers it the Axial RTR....Good price as well.....Something like $240-$260 all you need is a cheap 1600 battery and a charger and you are up and running...

thanks ny, thats pretty much what i was saying.. the artr has a lot of good parts that would have saved me lots of money in the long run. the rtr has plastic links that will flex really bas and cause axle walk, the motor is too fast, the esc has no brake function, the reciever glitches, and the rock lizard tires suck for traction. i have replaced all of these things, and for the money i could have bought 2 rtr's.
