Electric Micros & Minis
Eddie and family,
My 11 yr old son is interested in an electric, something between 1/36 and 1/16. He wants to be able to run outside, mainly in the road and some in the grass. So far he is pretty convinced to stay away from 1/36 since they can not run outside. He has read a lot about Mini Zs from Kyosho, and is convinced they are "the best." I think they may be 1/24 to 1/28, though, and I am not sure if they can run off road at all. The LHS has most of the Losi 1/18s and parts for them.
Does Himoto have any small scale electrics? I did not see any on your site. Does anyone have any experience with them? Any feedback about different sizes and what they can do? Any comments on brands?
Thanks!

RE: Electric Micros & Minis
We dont offer the 1/16 mini electrics here in the states, they are not that great for off road anyways, neither is the losi micro t or the kyosho mini z, I own a micro t and its a blast but in grass its worthless, even short cut grass.
Your best bet is a losi mini, 1/18 scale. Still not the greatest in grass either. Why not go with a 1/10 electric?

I think he was looking at the smaller scales for cost. But looking at the 1/10 electrics, they are all less than $150. What are the nitro equivalents of the MT10, XB10, EMXT-1, EMTR-1 and Z3?

mtr or viper x2s is the way to go but since you have a mxb get the viper x2s if your going to go that route. the mtr and mxb are very similar (the viper is too since its a megap)

RE: Electric Micros & Minis
We are going to stay electric for him. So no X2S, MTR or MXB.
OK, I think I understand some. [:-] The EMXT-1, EMTR-1, Z3 and Nascada are the same vehicle except for some details like shock towers, wheels. tires, bodies etc between the truck, truggy, buggy and car. And they are the electric versions of the Eldorada, Mamba, Syclone and Rapida. That means they are king pin suspensions, not pivot ball and not captured dogbones like the MTR and MXB. Am I correct so far? [sm=50_50.gif]

RE: Electric Micros & Minis
So the Mega Es (MT10 and XB10) have captured dogbones (kind of like CV shafts), at least on the front like the MXB?
Am I correct that the electrics never have a center diff or 2 speed? They just have the motor with a drive gear and a spur gear that runs a front and rear drive shaft?

I think it's a good bet, the micros and minis are just not a bashing rc less he wants to run on carpet, and dollar wise you can't go wrong with a mega e.
