I got a few more things done including the engine mounted. I still need to cut the cowl for the muffler. A dubro glow starter tops it off nice and I had to beef up the throttle linkage because of the angle, works great.

My oh my OMFG

That's a piece of art!

Great engine,great install!
I especially like the "cover" that you used for the hole cut on the cowl for the engine valve cover !!!!

Not for nothing Bri, is that a pipe cleaner for a throttle linkage! Seriously, it's something wrapped in wire strand?
The linkage is actually two lengths of pushrod wraped with wire and epoxy'd. I needed the extra strength because of the almost 90* angle. The single rod was flexing just a little.

I use heavy 4-40 music wire and fit sullivan HD ends into the music wire and solder them tight. If you use the spring steel wire it will not flex at all. I use to live in johnston,RI last year, I went to Brands all the time. I may have ran into some of you guy's once in a while.

Don't know. It's not done yet and its winter with 6" of snow on the ground so it won't be for a while. I'll give a flight report though.

What did you line the cowl cut outs with, and how did you mount it? Fuel tube and epoxy? Looks so good!

Nope, it's actually some length of rubber trim, 3/32 x 1/32 opening. I don't have the part number off hand but if you want to get some, I'll try and dig it up.

I got a nice XOAR prop on there and cut the cowling for the muffler, high end fuel mixture and fuel dot. I also set it up with a set of Kavan pneumatic wheels.

You should start a tv show or something - "pimp my stick". You're doing a pretty amazing job to that plane!

And I would like to know a little more about the trim - from the local home improvement store? I played around with some fuel tubing, doesn't look bad, but doesn't look as good.

Brian, this thing is awesome........I am very impressed with what you have done. I wish I would be here to see the maiden in the spring........ but you know i go back to Germany tomorrow. By the way my Gene Soucy extra came in, too bad it has to sit in the box for 9 more months.

Here is the stuff I use:
[link]http://www.mcmaster.com[/link]

Part number 8507k611, Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim 1/32" Opening, 1/8" Inside Depth. Perfect size for cowlings and thin wood. Hold it on by drizzling a little thin CA on the INSIDE of the cowl around the perimeter of the trim as to not drip on the finished side.

Jared, we'll see you next fall. Get the Soucy ready and we'll fly them together......

I put the battery, receiver and tail servos in. The fuse is now done. All that's left to do is the wing hardware. The next decent day we get, I'll get it fired up.

Well, I finally got to maiden the Yak yesterday. It was windy too but the plane flew perfectly. I had the engine set way rich (since its newly breaking in) so the power factor was a bit low. It needed no trim at all and the landing was smooth as can be. I will lean it out a bit on the next flight but that 200 is an awesome engine.
