Default ESC stops responding until transmitter has been rebooted?

I have a new Reedy Brushless ESC and as I'm racing it will just stop responding.

It won't respond again until the radio has been turned on and off or sometimes the esc needs to be re-calibrated..

The servo continues to respond no problem.. So that leads me to believe it is a problem with the ESC being defective..

I want to make sure it's a problem with the esc before sending it back to Reedy and losing a month of racing..
