Default Header styles

Is one style of header better than another? I've read on another forum and have talked to some other boaters and they claim that the 90 degree header is the one that performs the best of the "V" style and WTC. Then there's stainless steel and aluminum and I understand it depends on your application but if you have a stock Zenoah 260 with say a 6717/3 prop what would be the better performing header and tuned pipe?

Ideally stainless, it is harder and will nto distort like aluminium does. Don't use wrap forward or deep vee styles, they end up being too long to achieve tuned length, which leaves a choice of 90 deg, 100 deg or 105.

The 100 and 105 are useful if you want to exit the pie centre of the boat on the transom.

Oh - there are some pipes which will work wrap to centre, QD do one and a few others.

Happy boating.

Thanks Glen, so you think a stainless steel 90, 100, 105 header might be best? I'm running a am avenger with a "V" style header which is stainless steel and the tuned pipe is aluminum.

Yes, Satinless 90, 100 or 105 would be best. Pick the one that suits your hull best.
