Default thinking of getting into 1/12 onroad need help

well i been thinking of getting into 1/12 onroad racing at a local track. i have been racing nitro touring for 1 year and a few months (been bashing a few years before i started racing) now so i got the basic equipment like EX10 radio, chargers, tools, transponder, ect so im not staring completely from scratch but im still a bit inexperience in racing.
But i know very little about electric cars. i have done some research and im looking at the following kits .... serpent S120, XII xray, and the AE 12R5.1 im looking to choose one on ..how easy it is to get track ready, how im going to get parts, how strong the car is and the price. also let me know if there is any other model that i should look into.

i also want to know about motors, ESC and battery.. i want to keep the car up to ROAR spec.

Basicly i have no idea what works and what doesn't in electric... i will continue doing research but any help would be appreciated.

I've been racing off-road for a few seasons now and decided to try carpet racing myself. I took a slightly different tack and went for a World GT car (CRC GenX10) but I've been hanging around the guys in the club racing 1/12th and researching the same. Most of the guys I talk to seem to really like the RC12R5/5.1 or CRC GenXL, with a BMI DB12 or two in the mix. I don't really know if anybody here is running the XRay or Serpent cars. As far as motor and battery go, find out what winds are allowed. If you can, go for brushless and lipo, it is MUCH less hassle and probably cheaper in the long run when you factor in brushes, comm cuts, cell matchers, dischargers, etc that you WON'T be needing. FWIW, I'm running the new Novak Havoc Pro/Ballistic combo, but I'm told the Tekin motors and ESCs are really the hot ticket right now. Frankly, I've got too much power already for out track, so I'm not sure I'd want more. The Reedy 1S packs are getting really good reviews as well. However, if you go 1S lipo, you will need a voltage booster module to run the radio.

yes im looking at the BMI car and the CRC car as well. im basicly thinking about the whole link vs t-bar car i really dont know.. is one designed better then the other or do they both perform about the same?

so yea i looked at the tekin RS ESC... basicly is any ESC good as long as like sensored ESC?

is lipo basicly just better because they are lighter?

Lipos are lighter, have more "punch", and require essentially no maintenance. Also, they don't really cost much more than race-quality nimh packs any more.

Sensored ESCs are preferred for the high turn motors run in pan cars because they are usually much smoother on startup and at lower RPM. Sensorless are getting better quickly though.

As far as the t-bar vs link setup, I really don't know. Most of the newer designs seem to be moving toward the link setup from what I've seen.
