Default DA50-Popping noise in flight

Flying this engine on a Wildhare extra 260.Yesterday Everytime I pushed full throttle,it would pop.Not a lot, just every few seconds.I am running a mezjlik 22x8 and a tbm pitts muffler.Does this sound like neddle adjustment or ignition / ignition battery? Popping sound did not seem to effect performance, just wondered why it is doing this. Thanks

A little to lean, open up 1/8 turn on high end needle and see if it goes away.

I'd look for a breach of some sort in the ignition switch, battery wire or ignition wiring especially wires around a heat source such as your muffler.

Your timing may be advanced too far

Just the opposite. Lean the high speed needle about 1/16 turn at a time and see if it gets better.

Tony is right, when the high end is lean , the engine sags

Funny this should be brought up, but my new SV50 is doing the same thing. It starts great and accelerates great, but starts missing and popping as it revs up on takeoff. I am going to try to lean it out some more because it was sloppy rich on the first two ground runs. Also going to try another battery. It also seemed to start doing it when the cowl was installed for the first test flight. Could be pressurizing the cowl and richehing the mixture. Lots of possibilities. I flew it anyway because it was still running OK just missing, and I wanted to get some time on the motor. I didn't check the timing, but that is easily done.

This is incredible! My DA-50 started doing the same thing. Ichecked out the carb and it was clean as a whistle. Upon inspecting the ig system I noticed one of my tie down strips partially cut one of the wires leading into (or out of) the ignition box. Sent it into DA who still has it for repair. But I can't see why that would cause the problem. Have any of you solved the problem or found the cause? It's amazing the problem only occurs in flight. On the ground I can run a whole tank through and it doesn't do it?

Had a Brisson 50 doing this and the timing was set at 35 degrees. Reset the timing to 28 degrees and the poping went away,

I'm with both Dalton and w8ye. It's a combination of two factors. Timing and fuel. Too much fuel and advanced timing. Makes things go pop. If you managed to get the engine warmed up and did some full throttle runs you would likely hear what sounded like pea gravel rattling around inside the engine
