RE: Unacceptable practices
Old men who, get to the field, put their planes together, then walk around for hours telling everyone else how they should fly (not in a productive manner), then take their planes apart and go home.
I guess they save alot on fuel cost's that way!
Does that guy even own a transmitter? LOL

You'll understand soon enough...trust me. In the meantime, this doesn't sound like a safety issue...just an issue of personal understanding. Try making a friend of this "old" guy. He is probably just gumpy because he can't fly like he once could or would like to. [&o]

HI all, what do you see as unacceptable practices in our hobby, I''ll list mine,
1- pilots that only fly or land, left hand circuits
2-pilots that only fly or land right hand circuits
3-pilots that carry on board propane
4-pilots that can't trim their own plane
5-pilots that use brakes mixed with elevator, they should learn, how to use the rest of their fingers and have a dedicated brake channel.
6- pilots should only start up their turbines in a dedicated start up area.
7- pilots that don't bring a fire extinguisher to the start up area.
The purpose of this thread, is to make better pilots for 2010.

PS
List yours or debate mine

RE: Unacceptable practices
I have not read all the entries in this thread, and what I am adding here is not jet related.
Using a pistol grip radio, which is probably a surface radio, and flying in wind that is faster than the aircraft.

RE: Unacceptable practices
That's what happens when someone who can only fly circuits in one direction meets someone who can only fly circuits in the other direction.

RE: Unacceptable practices
my understanding is that at heli events, you have a fixed region in front of you that is "Your" airspace when you are down low....... the guy going from right to left was not following the Heli Convention... he is at fault....
But... your comment about the spotters might be correct.... a spotters job is to watch for traffic conflicts... notto just watch you fly.....

RE: Unacceptable practices
that explains the rule at our field where the guys who are flying circuits do it at one runway and the 3d guys fly on the other one

RE: Unacceptable practices
I am new to jets and currently on my second boomer.
I find the attitude of some of the guy's on here to be very sad, "anally retentive" sums it up well. I fly in New Zealand, so have only really met with a couple of 'toy model jet operators' who I have found to be way beyond helpfull.
The person who started this thread (if he really meant what he said ?) is the type of person I have no wish to be involved with, and is someone who certainly seems to enjoy taking the pleasure out of a very exciting hobby. Who gives a stuff what people do, as long as it is safe, and does not interfere with others enjoyment.
Ok, landing across the runway on a busy airfield, really is a no go, but on the other end of the table, I am sure that 99..99 % of people that choose not to trim their own plane, are more than capable of doing so.
RCPETE (and the rest of his 'crew'[&o])
If you are really serious about this one, I respectfully suggest, that you find another interest in which the 'small fish' do not annoy you, your type, really does not promote this hobby.[&o]
Maybe some could suggest a suitable alternative interest for Pete ?

oh, come on fellas. pete was just starting a thread for chatter. i dont think it was meant to be malicious, just entertaining. after all, pete just quit smoking and he lives in canada. i just saw pics of their winter flying. snow everywhere, enough to make me want to smoke. some things are lost in translation over the internet. shame on al gore for inventing this monster. barry
