Default Smallest SUV for upto 33% planes

My favorite hauler was my Ford Ranger longbed with a topper with side fold doors. Did not have to crawl into it. When it died, I bought a Dodge RAM 1500 because the price was so good. I added a custom topper to it with the side fold doors. These doors are well worth the money because I can pull the planes in and secure them without crawling into the topper. The Dodge is high enough to stack two rows of 33% fuselages in a rack plus wings. It has lights in it plus I put in a auxiliary power jack by the tailgate for my chargers and fuel pump.

I got the regular cab, but since my family is growing, we may trade it for the four door and use it as the family cruiser as well as the hauler.

With the 5.2 V8, it has no problem pulling a trailer as well. I get about 19 to 21 mpg with it.

Since its a pickup, taxes and insurance is about half of an SUV. My wife is a small car/small truck lover, but since she drove the RAM, it corners on a dime and is really easy to park and drive in traffic. She really likes it.

And with custom wheels, tinted windows, spoilers, and pearl blue paint, it looks COOL.

Keep the M3 and get a POS used truck or full sized station wagon. For under $1000 you should find something to get you to the field and back.

Then again- If you want the ultimate wagon for hauling planes....

We've got a suzuki wagon R=, and it carries a 2 meter plane, a 1.8 meter plane (plus its one piece wing), 6 ducks, 4 geese, radio boxes, tool boxes, my Dad, and myself. The car (new) was around $12000, and it does more than 40MPG. Practically no insurance, or tax. (Its 996CC) Now I know that some of you will be saying that this is a wimpy little unflashy car, but it is somewhat 'practical'. Park it anywhere sort of status......

I looked at the Honda Element on a lark. It's wheel base is too short. I drove the Hyundai Santa Fe and while it was an excellent small SUV, even my 1/4 scale Cub wouldn;t fit in it (I know cos I drove it home on the test drive to check! )

My flight box easily fits into my 'stang.... and a 40-60 sized plane fits in the passenger seat (with the top either up or down). How do you stop the wing from flying away?
